Dental bridge
In the absence of one or more teeth, the defect can be restored with a dental bridge. The bridge can be made on two or more teeth (called abutments), and the gap, i.e. the missing teeth, can be restored. A bridge is also called when a crown is made on a filed tooth and only one tooth next to it (suspended) is restored.
Bridges are fixed permanently in the mouth. They can be made of gold, metal alloys, and porcelain. Today, zirconium oxide is also used as a base on which porcelain is applied. Plastic bridges are installed temporarily until the permanent structure is made.
Dental bridges are placed over filed teeth and/or implants.

During the first visit to the dentist, the teeth that will support the bridge are prepared (filed down). The dentist files down the tooth and contours the stump. An impression is taken and sent to the laboratory. Your dentist can make a temporary plastic bridge in the office (or a dental technician in the laboratory), which will preserve the gums and filed teeth and restore aesthetics.
During the second visit, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent one will be installed in its place. If necessary, it will be tried on and adjusted (filed) until it fits properly. To ensure a perfect fit, the dentist will ask you to bite down so that they can check whether it is in occlusion and whether the bridge is ideal. If necessary, the dentist will file it down again. It is cemented in place. If the dentist decides, you will wear it with temporary cement for a while (1, 2, or 3 weeks) until you are sure that it fits well and is comfortable. Then it is cemented with permanent cement.
