Orthodontic treatment with aligners
Invisible orthodontics
This is a modern method of straightening teeth without braces, with a safe and predictable result.
Aligners are removable, transparent orthodontic appliances that are individually made for each patient, thanks to modern three-dimensional digital software.
- Aligners are used both for corrections in the position of individual teeth and for abnormalities in the bite.
- They can be used in both children and adults.
They are extremely suitable for patients with high aesthetic requirements, professional commitments or frequent travel. The treatment is performed in steps, with each step consisting of 3 splints. The patient places the splints sequentially, with each splint worn for about 1 week.
The duration of treatment depends on the type of deformity and the number of steps.
Improving the aesthetic appearance
Orthodontic treatment aims to improve the aesthetic appearance and function of the chewing apparatus. It can be performed with removable or fixed appliances.
Fixed braces treatment involves the use of braces – small plates that are glued to the surface of the teeth. They can be made of different materials – metal, ceramic, sapphire, plastic and are divided into aesthetic and non-aesthetic.
Things you need to know!
Other elements that are used are the arches – they can also be aesthetic and non-aesthetic, made of different alloys, have the necessary elasticity and are of different cross-section. The arches are fixed to the brackets using metal or elastic ligatures. Additional auxiliary elements can be: cannulas, hooks, buttons, springs, etc.
Orthodontic treatment has several phases:
- Leveling – aligning teeth and correcting rotations
- Tooth movement and distance closure
- Finishing – making minor adjustments and sealing the contacts between the upper and lower teeth.
- Retention period – after the braces are removed, in order to maintain and stabilize the result, there is a retention period, during which the bone and mucosa are organized according to the new position of the teeth. Retention devices are worn: fixed or removable. The type of retention device is selected according to the condition of the dentition and the type of deformation.
