The vestibular (front) surfaces are filed down, even much less than those of porcelain veneers.

The material (plastic) can be adjusted and replaced over time, which is useful when correcting the teeth of young children.

Their price is lower compared to ceramic veneers.

Disadvantages include their shorter lifespan of up to 10 years, compared to porcelain veneers, which last around 20 years, and the fact that they can darken over time due to food and drinks (tea, coffee, red wine, etc.).

Ceramic veneers will be placed during three visits to the office. One visit is for consultation and two are for fabrication and placement, regardless of how many teeth will be restored (one or more).

To receive guidance and expert advice from our specialists, please do not hesitate to contact us at +359 877 17 80 18

Diagnosis

Before and after veneer placement

First, you will discuss with your doctor the possibilities, options, and your desires for the final result.

Preparation (Grinding). The dentist will grind half a millimeter from the front (anterior) part of the tooth, i.e., an amount equal to the thickness of the veneer.
An anesthetic is applied to ensure painless filing. When the preparation is complete, an impression is taken and sent to the dental laboratory. There, a mold is made from the impression, on which the veneers are fabricated. This can take 1-2 weeks.

Once the veneers are ready, they should be placed. Before placing (cementing) them, the dentist will try them on (measure them) and assess whether the color is correct. If necessary, they will be adjusted (filed). A color is also chosen for the cement that will fix the veneers in place. The dentist prepares the tooth by cleaning and polishing it to ensure proper bonding. Using a laser, he will bond the veneers to the tooth very quickly, accurately, and securely. Finally, if necessary, he will make a final adjustment (filing), assessing the bite or removing any cement residue.

The doctor will advise you to visit the office again in a few weeks to check how your gums are reacting to the veneers.

What are the advantages of veneers?

Case of discolored teeth corrected with porcelain veneers

They feel very natural in the mouth

The gums tolerate the placement of veneers very well.

They are resistant to stains

From darker natural teeth, they can change several shades to lighter ones.

Much less tooth grinding is required to change the shape and color compared to grinding for a crown (in which case up to 70% of the tooth may be ground down).

What are the disadvantages of veneers?

They are more expensive than crowns.

If they break or become damaged, new ones must be made—veneers cannot be repaired.

The enamel on the tooth is worn away, which may cause sensitivity when consuming hot and cold foods.

If you are planning to whiten your teeth, it is best to do so before having veneers fitted, as you will not be able to change the color of the veneers after whitening.

It is possible for the veneer to fall off (which happens very rarely).
