How can I tell if my child needs orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic problems are not always visible. Even behind “straight” teeth, there may be an incorrect bite.

There are some signs:

  • Premature loss of milk teeth or their presence in the dental arch after the end of the period of their replacement.
  • Difficulty chewing or biting food

Mouth breathing – pay special attention to the symptoms to prevent the risk of facial deformities. Children who breathe through their mouths sleep with their mouths open, snore, have a stuffy nose, have restless sleep, wake up with dark circles under their eyes, are irritable, sleepy during the day, and may suffer from chronic constipation. BE CAREFUL, because these children have slow growth and difficulty concentrating. Mouth breathing leads to facial deformities, inflamed gums, and more cavities.

These children have an elongated and narrow face, their upper lip is shorter and their teeth are visible. The chin is small and set back, the jaws are compressed and smaller, and the teeth are misaligned.

  • Sucking fingers or putting various objects in the mouth
  • Asymmetrical jaws

Make an effort to eliminate your children’s bad habits.
